Fun fact: Marie was actually 33 in the original version. I think I lowered her age because I wanted her to be younger when she first started having children.

time fLIES when I open this book.

It’s late, and I cant keep my eyes open… but I can’t put this book down either. send help!

After a few moments, the door flew open. The Painter peered out beneath the brim of his flat cap, eyes wide, skin blending with the dark. "If you haven't come to help, leave."


The Painter doesn't have a huge role in the story, but I love his curmudgeonliness. 😆

Just discovered an accidental moment of foreshadowing that I’m now going to pretend was totally on purpose. 😂

Something electric pulsed through the air, bringing life to the night around her. Every leaf of every tree in the gateway seemed to quiver with its energy.

Fun fact: This scene where Marie returns to the sacred grounds didn’t exist until draft 4.

There’s a brief mention here of a man named Alejandro. This was a subtle nod to a character I had in the first draft, but ended up cutting. Sorry, Alejandro! 😅

Finally getting back into annotating my book.

When I decided to annotate my book, I did not realize how hard it would be to fit my thoughts in the margins. 😅

POV: You’re a writer who named a female character Vinh, but then you read Mistborn and now you live in fear that people will think you stole the name from Brandon Sanderson. 😂😂😂

This chapter is titled “Red Robe,” but I just remembered that it used to be “Red Sundress.”
And let me tell you, THAT article of clothing would absolutely not work in the published version. 😂

But if you want to know why, well, you’ll have read it for yourself, because…spoilers. 😏

Fun fact: in the first draft, Efram called this world “Re,” and I have absolutely zero memory of why I chose that name. 😆

Man, I forgot how short I made some of these chapters! 😁

Tearing the page from the notebook, she crumpled it up. But even crushed in her fist, the words remained, stark and undeniable. She tossed the paper into the wastebasket beside the desk. Still, the words remained as an echo inside her heart.


I thought I might cringe at everything while rereading what I wrote, but I actually still like some of these lines, guys! 😊

I decided to annotate a copy of this before I forget all the little behind-the-scenes tidbits I want to include! And you can bet I’m counting it toward my Goodreads goal. I need all the help I can get to reach 100 books before the end of the year. 😅
