I like that Temple was mentioned a few chapters back as Savine’s lawyer. It makes the Circle of the World seems very much alive.

I think Savine is planning to get rid of Leo one way or another, there’s no way she’d agree with him on executing Orso. And I don’t think Leo will agree to her choices being on the Closed Council and I can’t see her making the offer without a plan already in place. I honestly can’t see what will happen now. I wonder where Glokta and Ardee are and if they are alright.

Leo is embarrassing the Union in front of the Westport delegates (good to see Vick’s handiwork on Rosimiche still) I thought he knew better now. And even before that, what the hell is wrong with him? Being jealous of his babies and his wife and angry at his mother. I mean, it’s complicated and I get it (to a certain extent) but this is insane. He needs to go.

I have exactly 100 page left and I really don’t want to finish this book. There’s so much left I want more! I still have one more story collection but that’s it and I’m sad.

Offering Selest of all people a chair on the Closed Council is very interesting. A very bold choice. Vallimir I see. Curnsbick too. Kort less so but Selest dan Heugen, very interesting choice. I really respect Savine.

I like Savine a lot! Sulfur being back again is worrying me. And there is the mention of Zuri disappearing yet again the moment he shows up. Yeah! She’s totally an Eater. Or the author is trying to fool me into thinking that.

Vick my beloved, I’m so glad that she took Leo’s (Savine’s) offer to be an Inquisitor again instead of becoming a prisoner in the House of Questions instead. I really love how much Savine had changed! She basically saved Victarine’s life. I wonder if she is trying to take all the power to herself (and her children) that little comment to bloody Sworbreck was very interesting.

Also, what’s up with the strange marks on the backs of Zuri’s hands? What did Savine say? Pinpricks dimples? It makes it even more difficult to figure out. I hate the fact that we have not seen her the moment she got out of the House of Questions. Did Savine got her out? Did she get out by herself? Savine needs to speak to her as soon as possible. I need to know!

But is he even still around? I do not even know at this point.

I hate how we still don’t know the deal with Zuri. There are about 120 pages left and still hints are dropped and nothing is confirmed. I need to know! I was going to say that she might not be an Eater but now that I think about it I wonder if she truly is. Bayaz and Khalul have always tried to compete against each other & now that Bayaz has been cast aside maybe it is time for the Khalul’s agents to do the work

I do not like this one bit. It feels wrong. Both Leo and Savine had changed, though I like Savine’s change more. Poor baby Harod. And poor baby Ardee. It’s insane.

I wonder if Shivers will ever get to meet his son Jappo

I still think about the fact that Shivers was the one who killed Black Dow and saved Black Calder and in the process made him King of the Northmen. Then he was the one who took his life…pretty poetic.

I’m so glad Rikke let Clover go but am I though? I have a feeling that he’ll join the lad that we saw in Currahome. It made me tear up a bit when he started recommending Sholla and laughed when he got to Flick, and that hug outside Skaling’s Hall was so wholesome I want to cry. It was Sholla who shot Downside in the shoulder to give Clover an opening! That was nice!

I love Rikke but I don’t know if going to the Union in its current state (and after betraying Leo and Savine) is a good idea. I really don’t want her to end up in the House of Questions.

It is cruel to have the next two chapters be in the North. So cruel.

I’m still shocked that Leo did that. You know what? He needs to go. The way he talked to Savine at the end and how he dismissed her was unforgivable. If they hurt Vick I’ll riot and rage quit. None of this could have happened without her plan and her efforts, I was waiting for her to get all the rewards for her trouble and here comes the Young Lion and takes her to the House of Questions (I hope Pike is with us)

I am speechless. Leo really did that. My head hurts a bit. I’m glad that Judge is finally dead, good on Savine for fighting her and holding her own with her hands tied. I’m so scared. I can’t even imagine what will happen next. Now Harod is High King of the Union, a baby of a few months! This is madness. And Orso and all those who are loyal to him taken as prisoners (well apart from Forest)

P.S. I’m looking sideways at Leo for thinking that things would simpler if Savine (his wife mind you) had died already. That is insane.

I was scared Vick was going to die at Smiler’s hands no less. It is interesting to me that she is still using blunt weapons and even her knife did not kill him. Much to think about.
