Status Updates From God's Passion for His Glory...

Hopefully will finish this by the end of the week. Still great. Will get an easy 5 stars.

Too much brilliance. Edwards was one of a kind.

"God in seeking His own glory seeks the good of His creatures, because the emanation of His glory (which seeks and delights in, as he delights in himself and his own eternal glory) implies the communicated excellency and happiness of his creatures."

I planned on reading more. But this guy is just so dense that I just couldn't. I read for an hour and a half and got through like 5 pages. But, its paying off. This has some of the most heart stirring musings.

"This propensity in God to diffuse himself may be considered as a propensity to himself diffused, or to his own glory existing in its emanation." (155).

Definitely have to pray and meditate on this.

“When God is so often spoken of as the Last as well as the First, the End as well as the Beginning, it is implied that as He is the first, efficient Cause and Fountain from whence all things originate; so, He is the last, final Cause for which they are made; the final Term to which they all tend in their ultimate issue.” -Pg 184

I rly haven’t learned anything new lol. John Piper has already explained all of this in wayyyyyyy easier to understand language.

Read the intro to the Jonathan Edwards part of the book (lol thats a lie I skipped it and then read one page) and it’s boring and hard to understand so I’m good ima procrastinate this one/not read it until I’m smarter/older/more boring so I care 😝

“Mere self-love savors the gifts of God without savoring fellowship with God Himself.” -Pg 110

“…self-love is confined and narrow and selfish—and not virtuous—until it embraces or delights in the good of the whole universe or being, or more simply, until it embraces God.” -Pg 108

“…if what makes a person happy is the extension of his joy in God into the lives of others, then it is not wrong to seek that happiness, because it magnifies God and blesses people.” -Pg 91
