The tone of this feels very YA, despite being an adult book, and the anachronistic witticisms in every line are 50-50 on being amusing and being annoyingly silly. Unfortunately it's been nearly half the book and I am not invested in any of these characters' fate so DNFing this one.

Yeah I think I might have to DNF. I know I’m not even like 10% of the way into this book. I’ve read “follow me, minions” and every other iteration of that phrase too many times.
I know this is a book about villains, but why do they have to say “come on let’s be evil, let’s be villains, be my evil minions” every two seconds. It’s cringy and awkward.
