The FMC is an irritant and nothing about this makes any sense. The writing is juvenile.

What an odd opener

This is really interesting but the lore and geography is a little too hard to follow. As someone unfamiliar with Egyptian deities, I find that there are too many names and places to keep track of.
There are also word choices that is not to my liking but it's still interesting enough for me to keep going.
This is very much YA, so I also have to keep that in mind before judging the characters.
