Just finished chapter 4 on the appraisal industry and tax assessments discrimination against Black people

I’m on chapter 3 now. Chapter 2 dives into how housing issues are related to public health issues and vice versa. For example, heat islands are more likely to be in marginalized communities.

Chapter 1 focuses on how housing discrimination harms youth. The same way pediatric physicians consider all factors in childhood development, we must do the same. Forcing children to live in sub-standard conditions impacts their life. This chapter ends on a good note with how community mobilizations, specially in the Boyle Heights community, can be models for how we address housing and health.

So far, I’m REALLY enjoying this book. I’m not even done with the introduction, and my head is spinning. I will have to take my time with this one.
