I don’t agree with many of the spiritual claims in this book, but I am enjoying the playfulness of the author in urging the reader to seize rest. For anyone familiar with Audre Lorde or Toni Morrison, this book can an interesting/fun pairing for thinking about societal expectations in Western culture surrounding production and the need for self-care.

A tiny nightstand book of mantras reminding women to rest. My favorite line (page 103) is: “We speak the word burnout so much when it should be named correctly instead. There is no burnout. There is worker exploitation, abuse from capitalism, and trauma, stored in our bodies from a lifetime of overworking.” Mic drop.
