Status Updates From Knight (Unfinished Hero, #1)

I'm DNFing it. The writing style was terrible. If the plot was bad but the writing style was good, I would have waited 10 chapters, or in some cases even 20+, to DNF it. I just cannot deal with this
Overly descriptive, the first chapter was 30m long. The author uses so many brackets to give unnecessary context - at least 3 brackets per page.
eg. My cheap (but cute) sandals.
Imagine reading ts 3x in one Kindle page.

I'm not feeling this book, but I don't wanna DNF it right in the first chapter and it also has my fave trope so idk what to do.

“Move away,” I whispered mainly because I couldn’t make my voice get louder.
“No,” he whispered back.

YAAAAS! This *is* the jerk I've been looking for! Who cares about all the logical inconsistencies if he keeps talking to her like that. I may be the only woman left at the "overbearing alpha-male" table, but I love the view here and I'm not moving! Lmao!

Also, having been a medical filing clerk in Denver 4 years before this book was written, I know there is no way, no how she could have gotten even a cardboard BOX apartment in Capital Hill with her salary. Even if she's working part time as a nail tech...from her home...when she isn't yet certified...so much illegal stuff for someone who seems so anxious and rigid. Okay, I think that's all for now.

Wait, wait, wait. She's a medical filing clerk and she's going back to school to be a nail tech?! Why would you go through all that stress for a job that probably pays comparable to what she's making, but no benefits, and a precarious market?

This is my first KA book, are all of her heroine's melodramatic balls of anxiety who "freak out" constantly over the smallest thing? I can't relate when people are like that....I'm definitely into Knight though and enjoy the book otherwise.

He hasn't heard of the name Anya before?! Pssh, say you haven't watched Buffy the Vampire slayer without saying it, man!
