“In the Penal Colony” was a truly brilliant warning against the dangers of chasing moral and societal ‘perfection’, and having complete belief in an idea, which could, and did, turn out to be completely imperfect in every way. The officer’s demise was really the highlight for me - it drove home that warning of ambition and power amazingly well. Incredible short story, on par with “The Stoker”.

Metamorphosis was certainly one of the most depressing pieces of literature which I have read, and I have a great deal of thoughts on it.

The Stoker was an incredible short story which could be endlessly talked about and depicted in a million different ways.

I am only reading metamorphosis but I can't find it by itself with hoffman as the translator here so im logging in this edition!

The Judgement was an extra confusing read, but the moral and generally philosophical implications were profound, if not fully understood by me.
