Status Updates From Going Home in the Dark

Dean Koontz has taken a lighthearted method of writing this book, with casual interjections as an author about his writing directed at the reader. It's very different to his normal style of writing, but I have been drawn into the narrative effortlessly - so much different to "The City" which I found an ordeal to read.
