MARIUS: I thought you were sick. After the service I hurried around here, but instead of being in bed there you were outside in the yard making yet another...(At a loss for words) I don't really know what to call them.

Those are marvellous roles you have created for women. But, I can't help but be struck by the fact that you have never had two women together.

Bechdel test?

Though obviously in a sense provoked by Helen's story, I'd never quite been hooked by it. I'm a fisherman and I know the difference between a fish that's just playing with your bait and one that says "WRITE! I'M IT!" and takes your rod down as you sit back and out the hook deep in. I wasn't hooked. The hooking came through a coincidence of factors.

I've never seen you as happy as this! there is more light in you than in all your candles put together.
