Nary a thing so passionate as the unadulterated fury of the Young Girl. The first time the dam of anger is broken and all the most dreadful and vicious emotions flood out without warning, the flash and bang, this monstrous agitation of a wild animal that realizes its been caged its whole life for the very first time. It is pure, instinctual distress, and that is what makes this anger so dangerous (for other people).

It took me an obscene amount of time to finish this but I’m glad that I did. Stefan Zweig’s writing never fails to disappoint.

Only the first story and i am already in shambles.. how does he do this ?! I am disarmed, my carefully constructed walls dismantled in a handful of simple sentences straight to the heart; i am flayed open raw and true.

so good, Zweig quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
