The mystery aspect is nice; I want to find out what is going on. But perhaps that is because so much of this is so absurdly odd. I hope Reid intended for it to feel like that, bc every other page, she describes an event or Effy thinks some really weird thought and I’m like..

The writing style just bothers me. You design an entire mansion and all you say is “she began drawing”??? She threw herself out of the car and the next scene is her already back at the house?

The fmc feels so flat, and it’s probably because the author skips over every time she actually does something!

I’ve never felt telling vs showing so strongly. It makes my face scrunch up every time.
