this is taking a weird turn and i’m not sure i’m here for it

I will probably revisit this in 2026, but I’m soft DNFing at this stage because I am having a hard time connecting to Spencer’s POV. I’m really only interested in Laurels POV. And even though Spencer does not get a lot of page time, I am finding it that his scenes break up the narrative in a way that makes it hard for me to want pick it back up.

I would like to know more about what Laurel Spencer found comforting. Right now it feels like “she’s not like other girls” but I’m willing to let it slide for now

Make sure you read the forward. It has a lot of warning about the content you might see, but it’s not so much laundry list of content warnings/ trigger warnings.

If I had not read it I would have been very shocked by the first chapter with Laurel. It sent me into that panic of fawn and freeze I felt in my first marriage.

Chapters 17 and 18 didn't work on my kobo?? But thankfully could read them on my comp and ch 19 worked.
