Looking at the TOC, the first 75ish pages explain the environments, flora, and fuana of where the Calusa resided with some insight at their interactions with it. Not terrible but also not exactly what I came for.

Book mentions how quahog clam shell growth rings are used to determine the position of Calusa people across seasons. Interesting to consider how what amounts to real life meta data can be used to learn about people from the past in the same way that digital meta data is used now. Also neat to consider the interdisciplinary knowledge set coming into play here.
