So... there WAS a betrayal, but I don't believe it yet... too EASY, too EXPECTED, not enough WITNESSES. And now they're ("conveniently") DEAD. I might not like the person, but I think they were framed... outcome tbd.

So the plot just thickened drastically, and now we're dealing with a bunch of little clumps in the batter and a shortening list of allies. Oddly enough, at least 3 of those clumps involve evil siblings.

Man, I thought Dekker's Circle series was a creative Biblical allegory... but this is quite good! Update: Devil character has been introduced, this whole love triangle thing is giving me the ick, and the tension just keeps on rising with every chapter!

Let it be known that I haven't liked Dorian from the beginning of this trilogy. I'll hand it to him that he's mature and has a lot of trauma to deal with, but I am nonetheless annoyed at his repeated cowardice. He has 27% of the series left to change my mind if we want any semblance of a happy ending.

So update, 2nd book ended with EMOTIONAL SCARRING, and things are rough, but Seph just got her first female friend in 21 years who is TELLING all her angsty male friends so that's good :D
