Okay, I don't get the theythem character. The way society seems to work in this world, nobody has time for gender navel gazing and no gender roles seem to exist. Are these some sort of sexless clones? Not sure what kind of modern procreation is happening. Also, the theythem is referred to as "he" sometimes, so maybe it was changed last minute and edited sloppily.

Making our way across the "ocean" and meeting new parts of a different whole. Both are on verge of realizing the other true intelligence but rationalizing away that possibility still even after everything.
This book is complex and rich and brings so much for my mind to chew on. I'm only listening a few chapters at a time to slow walk to the delicious end.
