Colonisation is not a one-off event, but an ongoing structure to facilitate dispossession as long as the settler-colonial project is alive. The indigenous population has to remain in a subordinate position until native society has been destroyed, either through death or departure, or the colonisers withdraw from the project and are willing, as the Whites were in South Africa, to be part of a decolonised country.
