ok, so I was reading reviews stating this book is repetitive and at the time I wasn’t agreeing with those reviews but then I read further along and now I know what they mean BUT it’s still a fascinating and insightful book for me as I’ve learnt things I didn’t know before. I think it could’ve just been structured a little better ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Chapter 2: The World in 1912 feels a little shallow, like a middle school report on "here's everything technological and political that happened around the world in this year".
So far intrigued by chapter 3, but that's because it deals with the Four Counties of the Toisan area where many early Chinese diaspora hail from (self included).
I notice this is by the same co-creator of the same-named documentary
