Status Updates From One of Our Kind

Still too much BLM talk. Jasmine is obsessed.

I’m only 19% into this one, so my opinion could definitely change, but so far I’m struggling to connect with it.Right now, the story feels like it’s centered around a police shooting, and that’s not the type of story I’m in the mood to read. It’s not necessarily a criticism of the writing, it’s more about where I am as a reader. I was hoping for something different. Still listening!!!!

I started listening to this audiobook as a random pick to start and hopefully just fall asleep to but it ended up keeping me awake enough to get invested. It’s a fiction book with a sort of mystery feel about what’s going on, but the pacing and suspense isn’t accelerated like a typical thriller or mystery genre, but Im ok with patiently waiting during the setup to find out the twist.
