well. i knew it was unsafe to mix ammonia and bleach (a friend was nearly killed at work when she topped up a labeled spray bottle with diluted bleach not realizing someone had misused the bottle for ammonia and not relabeled it. the fumes had her in respiratory distress for a week.
now i’ve learned that you can’t mix vinegar and bleach for similar reasons.

Ok, we've established this place is strange and introduced the colourful characters. Now we need some sense of threat or this is going to stall.

This is fun. I love the main female character calls her brother 'Ruiner'. It seems the perfect name for someone who has managed to get himself turned into a cat. The humour works - part snark, part creative similies and part amusement at the fact that our heroine has no idea how much trouble she's in but we do.
