No, I generally do not read mermaid fantasy. Like AT ALL. I've read the first two chapters, not totally impressed so far (a lot of info dumping and awkward writing), so we will see where this goes.
I honestly was just bored and wanted to see where this takes me. I will be surprised if I end up liking it.
