I like how it offers Julia’s perspective of events but I feel at the same time, they do not add too much value to the story of 1984 and Julia as a character. I don’t feel immersed into the story as I did reading 1984. I suppose it’s because not much of the world of 1984 needed to be described as much as this retelling, but I wish it had more oomph to it.

Right after my last update it did a 180 and immediately got interesting and beat 1984 in every way was a superior book and actually worth reading. The last page alone though pissed me off and was almost 1984-esque holy cornball.

Seems too similar to 1984 except it just takes the universe for granted with only minor additions, the original book by now would've focused more on the universe and the plotting of the main characters. Right now it seems like a fanfiction. Also unoriginal political messaging so far, nothing revolutionary.
So far the expected graphic detail is there but it's not of the gore-y kind expected from the universe.
