Maame was one of those books that quietly stays with you. As the oldest daughter, I found so much of Maddie’s story relatable, especially the pressure of always being the responsible one. I also loved how honestly it explored growing up in a family where mental health isn’t openly discussed and what that means while finding your way into adulthood. Such a heartfelt, authentic coming-of-age story.
