A woman's story. Whose story is it? The mother's or daughter's? For now, I think it's a story told through a daughter's eyes.
The narrator's voice, or stream of consciousness, seems matter of fact. She must write objectively to "get away" from contradictions: good & bad. Contrast that with how she writes about her mother at a distance yet resents her & grieves her death, it's stark & upsetting to me.
