Ever since Madame Olenska returned to their social circle he began implicitly comparing his fiancé to her cousin, clearly falling in love with the mystery of one while holding contempt for the simplicity of the other. I hope he realizes his cruelty and grows the hell up, regardless of who he chooses as a match for himself.
