Status Updates From Candle Island

Middle Grade Book March Madness 25-26. This doesn’t feel like a middle grade book because it’s so deep. There’s so much beauty in the descriptions in the book and how the author crafts the story.

Add in art theft, as well. Good lord, the plot just HAPPENS to make something interesting. And it's still boring.

This book is animal cruelty and arson for kids

The emphasis on Murdock is wild. We have spent exactly ZERO time with her other than a few time she's showed up and called the MC "New York". Why am I supposed to care about this character who's hurting others because she's hurt?

still bored. This is so slow. What kid is going to wait through this?

“You’re going to change every time you take a step, take a risk, meet someone, learn something new, get hurt. Either that or you’ll plant your feet and atrophy.”

I'm bored. I'm trying to finish these last two books for Heavy Medal, but this is boring.
