You can tell CS Lewis read MacDonald because he also had a male protagonist read a sign that said “do not touch the obviously enchanted object” and proceed to touch it; you can tell this irritated Lewis because he wrote Polly’s indignant “you just had to, didn’t you?”

Reading this for a bookclub but it’s a slog to get through. Thought I’d enjoy it more since I like CS Lewis and Tolkiens writings, and this was a big inspiration for them.

Should've read this after "Pilgrim's Progress" and "Pilgrim's Regress"
