This book has really opened up a huge conversation for me within my own mind.

Should one delete social media or keep it and practice insane self control?

I’m edging more for the latter atm

Increasingly I’m inspired to turn my phone off for a week just to see what happens. It’s actually possible for me since caring means I need to be reachable 24/7 unsafe my dad needs in inform me or instruct of something.

Turned greyscale on, so my phone is now black and white.

The mediation of pleasure and how screens have begun replacing our real experiences is terrifying. The utilitarian examples that seem so insane before don’t sound far off from our future rn.

As a result of this than book and things that have happened in my personal life I will delete social media soon meaning my Instagram and I’m never joining it again. As I deserve a rich life full of experiences and I won’t get that through a screen.

To let our feelings be so transparently interpreted by technology is terrifying, so black mirror. To have an app decide to delete a friends number bc of my heart rate, or to have my partner question if I love them bc their phone sensed a shake in my voice…. That’s literally insane, I don’t want to get to that point

Massaging my brain

Boredom is so damn important, to think patience is connected to a more productive and humanist society. I’m blessed to have already started learning how to be more patient. I hope for a more altruistic society
