“When I began to write about AIDS during Roger’s illness, I wanted a form that would move with breathless speed so I could scream if I wanted and rattle on and empty my Uzi into the air.”

Today’s poem “Nights of 1962” by Marilyn Hacker details a not-yet-queer-identified Hacker tiptoeing into the lesbian bar scene with desire and trepidation. Here I go on a side quest into both her and her longtime (gay) partner Sam Delaney’s lives and work.
