Status Updates From Fae for Pay

Hey.. so, this is delightful?? I'm absolutely loving the main character and what happened so far. I knew this didn't have so many good reviews for no reason. Often times, with tropes and a genre like this, you get some mediocre books that read more like fanfiction, but so far, this has been nothing but fun. The author is clearly well equipped to build a suspenseful story that's not purely romantic

I am intrigued. I am also confused.

This book is not at all what the blurb promised.

1. The MC and the LI never hated each other - they've already hooked up and are talking about a fwb type of thing?

2. They're still in the real world, and it doesn't seem like that's going to change any time soon.

I was expecting a high fantasy adventure, and this is totally not it - rn I'm wondering if I should dnf, because the writing's not all that great, either.

The pacing has left something to be desired; MCs are in the same location by 20% but don’t speak until 26%. The magic plot moment in the blurb hasn’t happened yet at 50% and they haven’t kissed yet.
I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read but it seems like it could’ve used an edit and trim in the first half.
