Status Updates From Lucifer's Hammer

In space, the four astronauts/cosmonauts watch the unfolding disaster.

"... if only Hamner-Brown could return to the cometary halo.
             But there appears to be something in its path."

Oh, this is hilarious! The enthusiastic nerding out of the two scientist and comparing a comet to hot fudge sundae. Now I'm hankering for ice-cream!

I love how each chapter closes out with a paragraph or two from the comet's perspective, ratcheting up the feeling of impending doom as the comet's orbit gets closer and closer to Earth each time "the black giant" crosses its path.
