a gut punch for someone who grew up knowing that no matter how hard they try, talent always beats hardwork

So far this book is so relatable… as a Chinese British with immigrants from China, my parents would usually compare me to one of my friends who was good at everything including grades and piano. It really annoyed me which is why I shed some tears at page 22 because I understand Jenna so well. This also relates but one time I wished to become my friend my parents always compared me to like the book

“I already like someone else”
“Who.. someone you meet in Paris?”
