Then his jaw clenches and he pulls me roughly to him, wrapping his arms around me so tightly I bet that if a natural disaster struck right now, we’d still be standing at the end of it, rooted to the ground and intertwined like this.

“You didn’t friendzone me. That makes it sound like only being your friend is a demotion, somehow. As if it’s not my favorite thing to be.”
