Reading this book for the first time in almost 20 years and it still holds up. The thing I love most about this book is Diaz’ blend of Caribbean Spanish, vintage nerd culture, and east coat vernacular. There are little winks throughout the book for a variety of people and plenty for everyone to learn.

rereading this and it's just. sooo prevalent how much latin men hate women. and sometimes I wonder if that means junot diaz is good at writing yunior bc he is knowledgable of the misogyny within latine cultures, or if junot diaz himself is.....yknow......
