Status Updates From Whale Fall

The fishermen say that to have a woman on a fishing boat is a curse; the same applying to a lost hare, or a corpse. Still, with some persuasion I am permitted to accompany a night collection.
Watching them, I am reminded of my brother, learning to empty and reload a rifle while blindfolded. The strength and guile of our countrymen, from all corners of the Isle.

The prose is short and succinct. O’Connor loooooves similes. I can’t tell if the vignettes the story is told in make no sense or if I’m braindead. I really like the vibes so far
