The lost days ended up being better than expected. It held its own and wasn’t just a cheap gimmick. 4/5

It was clever to show Jason learning the news that Batman had found a new Robin, Tim Drake. While we typically accept the fact that there have been a number of characters to take the mantle of Robin, it is a bit disturbing to think about just replacing his moniker, and a bit sociopathic of Batman to do this.
This provides an extra fuel to the fire for Jason anger towards Batman, justifiably so!

Although, while he is plotting revenge on Batman, he starts to become a “Batman” of sorts in his own right, with differences we already are aware of.

The lost days prequel reveals what happened between his resurrection and his meeting with Batman. While this was already covered in the annual, this gives it much more depth, rather than just connecting two events.
It’s interesting to see him process the grief of his own death. In Under the Hood, we see him angry at Batman for not killing the joker, but in TLD, we see him nearly murder Batman himself!

Props to Winick for taking one of the most hated DC characters and resurrecting him into one of the most compelling anti-heroes in recent DC continuity.

Black Mask is pure comedy in this. He’s used to being the boss of Gotham, but Red Hood makes him look like a joke, and Black Mask has some hilarious interactions with nearly every other character.
The writing did a good job of making you understand where Red Hood is coming from, and even agree with him. However, it does a good job reining it in and pulling you back to Batman’s side by the end.

Just finished the main story. Surprising how engaging the story was despite its length. A fitting sequel to “Death in the Family”, with an epic conclusion.
I watched the movie in high school and loved it. I’m glad there was enough content cut from the movie that I still was surprised at some points reading the comic.
The story is really an analysis of Batman’s code and its effects on those closest to him.
