This book has very stereotyped characters. The women are very feminine and helpless. The women that are 'bad' are very catty and self absorbed. And the men treat the women like children who are too stupid to know what they are talking about....... And this book is written by a woman..... It's kind of like Enid Blighten's style of writing.

[A disappointment. Not really a Christmas mystery at all except for the opening chapters when the victim is found electrocuted in his Christmas tree. It moves on to the theatrical world in London but in a very haphazard manner that doesn't focus on any of the characters. The Scotland Yard detective rarely appears and the reporter Katherine seems to be the main investigator. I'll still finish it, but it is a 2 star.]
