Status Updates From The Emperor of Gladness

So far, okay. The writing is not as moving as the last book I read by Vuong. I feel like I'm waiting to get somewhere -- like I'm in a holding pattern right now. I sort of am invested but I don't yet care too much what happens to any of the characters. Hopefully something turns/happens.
