Status Updates From Runes

Runic writing became more well known commonly in the middle ages and then died out entirely in Scandinavia by 1500.

Runes were used in Angli Saxon England (~500ad), sometimes in combination with Roman letters. Usually labeling objects such as combs. Trickled out of use by 900-1000ad; most later usage came from Northumbria.

Far from being associated with pagan magic, as is sometimes claimed, the high point of runic literacy in England was in Northumbria's religious communities.
