Ngl I skipped a lot of the late Roman/medieval period because it was pretty boring, super dense, and idk any of it. Confirms that I’m not built for literature academia

It’s surprisingly easy to read because his passion seeps through the pages. It’s also insane, and makes so much sense (so far)

Loving this book. It's very relevant to me since I've read so much of the source material. Odyssey, Chanson de Roland, Decameron, Divine Comedy, and Gargantua and Pantagruel. Coming up the author is going to cover Montaigne, Shakespeare, Don Quixote and more. I may pause in the upcoming chapters so I can read Henry IV, Le Rouge et le Noir, and To the Lighthouse to get the most out of his analysis. Good stuff.
