Status Updates From All the Summers in Between

The narrative shift between accurate periodization and modern-day views takes me out of this novel. ex. I'm on chap 8 where there is talk of consent; this in itself is not an issue. The blatant reference to modern day thinking of consent in the narration makes me pause and go, "no, she's in 1967, not 2024." A modern reader doesn't need the feministic undertones spoon fed to them. The story is going well without that.
