Status Updates From Truth Is

I feel so much for her mother right now. Also, her mom needs adult friends.

Zariah, boo boo, if you gotta cover for Truth when it comes to the smallest things did you really think her mom would be happy about her being a teen mom?

I made it to trimester 3 and I wish her mom had gotten therapy when Truth suggested they go together. Truth's entire life has been shouldering her mother's mistakes and her father's choices.

This reminds me of Just Another Girl on the IRT, The Poet X, and Gabby: A Girl In Pieces all at once.

Also, Zariah ain't shit. The slam poetry team are my children. And I wish Truth's mom didn't spend 18 years punishing Truth for shit she ain't choose i.e being born.

it's always that one girl in the book you think ain't gonna be shit that ends up being the better friend.

I knew it! I knew Zariah was on some dumb shit the second she kept smiling and romanticizing Truth being a teen mom knowing damn well it wouldn't change her (Zariah's) life.
