This is the first book I have read by Strange, and I feel that (and it would seem) that he purposefully wrote Escobar to be a giant prick not only for character development but also to be "that guy you love hate." And if so, bravo. He grows on you... like black mold. If you are reading this and thinking of stopping cause of Escobar don't. Strange weaves a fine tale here

Escobar is still obnoxious, but imagining him being played by Bruce Campbell has made him a bit more bearable.

Even though the main character is obnoxiously annoying there is something about this book that keeps me interested. Maybe it's the giant monster, or the occasional chuckle line, either way I hope the main character becomes less of a poorly written Captain Jack.

"I tell you, there's nothing in this world that makes you feel more alive than prissy." I really dislike Escobar.

Escobar was overconfident, and now the book is basically that point in Jurassic Park where everything went to help and people started dying.

I only just started this, and I already dislike the main character. I think he only has one investigative setting: annoying bully.
