Part one of this book was surprisingly good. I was curious what Simmons would do structurally for this book knowing how strict he was in the last book. Gone is the Canterbury tales format, which was great but made the story perpetually feel like a prequel; now the world is expanding and the story is driving toward a conclusion of epic proportion.
