He'd been so furious his ears had flushed red. The same thing was happening now: His ears were quivering, his eyes reddened in the corners, his lips glimmering with moisture. His confused state was adorable.

Feng Xiao wanted badly to see Cui Buqu overcome with shock or alarm-or even better, see him weeping and begging for mercy.

A pair of lips was pressed against his own, mouth the words one by one: There's someone-underneath-the carriage.

Feng Xiao clicked his tongue. "When I'm useful, you cling and coo at me. When I'm not, you turn a cold shoulder. What a heartless, ungrateful man! I fear all young maidens must flee from you on sight!"

He glared at Feng Xiao. The man was gorgeous; his sole imperfection was his ability to speak. If only Cui Buqu could sew his mouth shut, he thought, then he'd be able to appreciate his face in peace, and everything would be perfect.

“Why are you still standing there?” asked Feng Xiao.
Indignation pricked at Qi-niang’s heart. “This one has a stomachache.” She pouted.
“Then go after you’ve been to the toilet.”
Qi-niang was struck speechless. The handsome lord didn’t even bother to glance at her. Furious, she stamped her foot and left.

“Would you be enchanted by someone uglier than yourself?”
The magistrate was speechless, but he couldn’t argue with his logic.
