Ok I’m back literally two pages later bc I got so pissed off and frustrated that I started crying (wasnt expecting that) and (I’m home alone) I just yell-ranted to my living room about this book and the cardinal sins of the dark romance genre and how I cannot imagine reading this book and seeing it as a respectable portrayal of women, sapphic romance, or BDSM. I’m gonna give this book one more shot before DNF

The way none of them listen to Elle’s requests even in minor situations is really pmo. Like Elle asks Teresa to drop her off like a block away from where her moms are parked so she doesn’t get interrogated by her parents about who Teresa is, etc cause she’s already very visibly stressed about them visiting and Teresa just doesn’t listen and jokingly pressures her to kiss her while they’re in view?? 👎🏼

Ok the people may disagree w me and that’s fine but the authors’ have taken Xanders treatment of Elle too fucking far. I know that it’s a dark romance and whatever but there’s a way to do this dynamic without having one of the love interests push her down the stairs and drag her around the house dragging on the floor butt naked by her hair ? There’s BDSM & then there’s sexualizing abuse as brat taming
