Status Updates From Where Are You Really From

“The Dollhouse” — The frame narration paired excellently with the story’s twist! While each topic (immigration, coyote work, birthright citizenship, birthright baby brothels…?) could have been explored even deeper, I enjoyed the peculiarity of how this story was written.

"Happy Endings" - This story was engrossing...unsettling...I thoroughly enjoyed it while I squirmed. I liked how sex work was compeltely rewritten to be a woman's power under her own direction while at the same time I was given a window into a stark and cold reflection on sex tourism.

The only reason why I'm not DNFing this is that it's part of one of Goodreads' challenges. But damn, it's BORING. The stories have no payoff, and the overall feeling I get is "what was the point of this and why am I reading it?"

"Featured Background" - I liked this story a lot. It wove together generational resentment with a subtle commentary on how people have the power to leverage their traumas for attention, blame, or even public success.
