holy moly all the damn threads are coming together masterfully! banks was such a brilliant writer! this book gives the best view as to daily life in the culture, almost as though it was done with an anthropologist's eye. it's soooo damn good what am i going to read next?!

wowww! the various scattered plot threads are starting to come together! we just found out how the one group of out of place aliens go onto the weird creature in the weird place! theres hints of a n unnamed mystery manipulator in the shadows. i cannot wait to finish this book! if not tonight then tomorrow! blessings!

omg this book is iain m. banks' love letter to his own creation. life in the culture seems sooo lovely! i'd teleport there in a second! i'd love to meet interesting aliens and chat with ancient drones and super smart ai Minds!

ah! just as magnificent as i remember from 2014. its another dense slog with incredible worldbuilding. we got lots of glimpses of life on a culture orbital a sort of "outside looking in on culture life and society through alien protagonists i amalways shocked to find out there's "only 31 trillion people, living in the culture! i always assume a pan galactic society will have way more!
