Absolutely FASCINATING to see that US used to follow britian's precedence of "if someone approaches you with violence you must do everything you can to escape", until the 1800s and then it became "no duty to retreat" bc americans "have a distaste for retreat". DUDE!! BULLCRAP!! And the way that DIRECTLY leads to modern day "stand your ground" laws that allow for extra-judicial murder and part of why US is so violent
